Project Description
2/17/97
Executing concurrent processes under any operating system is also known as
multi-threading. This
multi- threading is controlled by the operating system itself,
and specifically within the kernel and the
shell of the UNIX operating system.
Understanding what happens between the process itself, the
kernel, and the shell
can be a very confusing adventure. It is our hope
that with the use of PATHFINDER,
the adventure will be a little less of a burden and a little more fun.
Thus, PATHFINDER will illustrate the step-by-step occurrences and interfaces
between a number of
concurrent processes, executed by a user, and the kernel,
as well as between the processes themselves.
