Future Improvements

The following suggestions for improvement were compiled from the group:

  1. PATHFINDER to analyze a client/server program between 2 different workstations. (AF)
  2. Use Message Queues or some other IPC/RPC method to send event log info. (WJ)
  3. All error handling should be done through X Windows. (WJ)
  4. The wrapper function library needs to be extended. There are some system
calls that are difficult to handle (ie execl).(YD)
  5. The wrapper function library is based on using a file to save the event log info.
It should be changed to use messages. (YD)
  6. We assumed that the time for running wrapper functions is short which makes us
suppose that execution is atomic. If the running time for a wrapper function is
too long, it would greatly affect the whole program's execution. Ways should be though of
to reduce execution time of wrapper functions.(YD)
  7. The graphical window should show how processes communicate with each other. (TT)
  8. For all areas, more attention to the little things needs to be adhered to. (LH)
