Course Description
 

This course stresses the application of software engineering principles to constructing robust software intensive embedded systems using advanced integrated software development environments. The course is organized as a seminar with weekly assigned readings from the literature, the webor course text. There will be two written exams, a course project and about4 programming assignments.

XML, Jscript, C## and other languages  will be used to implement the course programming assignments. Microsoft's Visual Studio .NET  will be used in course lectures demonstrating code development

The main investigations of the course will concentrate on quantifying productivity and quality improves that may be achieved through the use of Visual Studio .NET.  

Reading assignments and programming projects will beannounced in class and posted to the course web site. Regular class attendanceis not mandatory however, it is strongly recommended since examinationmaterial will be drawn from class lectures, assigned reading and programmingprojects. Class participation is strongly encouraged.

Programming Project Grading Standards

Projects will be graded on accuracy (satisfaction ofproject requirements), style (documentation and organization) and efficiency(execution conciseness).

Late assignments will not be accepted unless the student has a medical excuse. In the event of a medical excuse, the assignmentdeadline will be extended for the length of time the medical excuse statesthat the student was unable to do the assignment. A minor computer malfunction(less than four hours) will not be considered as justification for a deadlineextension.
