Dr. Kathleen Kaplan started her very
busy life as Kathleen McGuire. She came from a crowded,
but most-of-the-time happy, two-family home outside of
Boston Massachusetts. Unhappy with her
siblings, who would constantly
eat food off of her plate, Ms. McGuire escaped to the
beautiful city of Lowell, Massachusetts, to study computer
science. Graduating on time, and being the only person in
her row at graduation with an actual diploma, she drove down
to Florida with her
Father.
The trip was silent at times due
to the fact that her Father made fun of her boyfriend the
whole way by referring to him as "chipmunk head." When Ms.
McGuire arrived at Florida Tech, she promptly met the
man of her dreams and dumped chipmunk
head during Winter Break. After graduation, she happily drove
to DC with this new man, married him, graduated again (becoming
Dr. Kaplan),
and eventually produced a beautiful
daughter.
Dr. Kaplan has taught at various universities and has worked
at many companies, but her most challenging job has been mother.
She gets very angry when people ask a mother, "Do you have a job?"
Dr. Kaplan has lived many places: Boston, Melbourne, DC, Pittsburgh,
Albuquerque, Oklahoma City, and Montgomery.
Dr. Kaplan is back in DC and is
very happy to be part of Howard University!
