RARE is a novel resource management system that will supervise
loading/execution of user process requests. It comprises a set of
functions
and applications that have been optimized for high performance.
A novel feature of the RARE system is that data is sent to the resource
from
a remote site, processed on hardware that has been optimized to perform
a
particular task more than 10 times faster than a typical high
performance
computer, and results are transmitted back to the user via the Internet.
The modules that will be placed in RARE will consist of several
standard
components that are frequently used in the scientific and engineering
communities.
