Background:

In the past, there have been a considerable amount of automobile accidents, which are due to the fast moving pace of emergency vehicles in route to the scene of a crisis. The majority of these accidents occur at intersections where traffic lights control the flow of traffic. Just possibly, if the emergency vehicles could control the traffic lights at each intersection, they could ensure that the lights that they approach are always green thereby minimizing accidents and reducing the time required to get to the scene of an emergency.

Problem Statement:

Conceptually design a device that would allow for the emergency vehicles to have control and top priority over the traffic lights that they must pass through on their route to an emergency. Make sure the design proposes a completely new method for solving this problem.
