Sunday Morning Gospel with Patrick Ellis WHUR's Sunday Morning Gospel Morning show has dominated the market for more than a decade at No. 1 on the Arbitron ratings. WHUR's gospel programming provides a "spiritual transfusion" for listeners to carry them through the week. The blend of inspirational gospel music and host Patrick Ellis's soft-spoken voice is essential to any listener preparing for a Sunday morning of church. This show provides a comfortable, ecclesiastical listening experience without preaching or pasteurizing. Music is chosen very carefully to ensure quality gospel music, a blend of contemporary and traditional -- something for everyone! It is this subtle but memorable and unique quality of the Sunday Morning Gospel that has caused it to become a regular voice in church circles across the district as well as many other major cities in the United States. The show has built a reputation on catering to the needs of the churches and church goers who now depend on announcements of their churches' gatherings and fundraisers in the five minute segment at the top and the bottom of each hour. It is this quiet but demanding, subtle but prominent quality coupled with originality that could only come from WHUR, that has caused the Sunday Morning Gospel Show to skyrocket to the top of the charts and remain there for the past ten years.
