Parallel Cluster
The goal of this project is to develop, research, and publish algorithms relating to parallel processing of algorithms in computational biology. The project consists of three Apple G4s that are clustered using an Ethernet switch. The algorithms to be tested are dynamic programming (DP) and the longest consecutive substring (LCA). In theory, and by using serial processing, the LCA performed dramatically better than DP. Also in theory, the LCA parallel version performs better than the DP parallel version. Testing the parallel versions are currently being performed. © 2000, Dr. Kathleen M. Kaplan.
