About Kathleen McGuire

Kathleen McGuire was a very happy undergrad at University of Lowell, in Lowell Massachusetts. (ULowell sneakily changed its name to the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, but all of us older alumni will always think of it as ULowell!) She was very involved in all parts of campus life, too much so as reflected in her undergraduate GPA! She participated in the following, plus more that she now forgets:
SGA TreasurerSGA SenatorCommunity Affairs Committee
Connector (Newspaper)Homecoming Queen's Court Rathskellar Board of Directors
Special Olympics CoordinatorCommon Affairs Committee Drama Club

The photo on the left is Kathleen and her friend Pattie at some function at ULowell. Kathleen can't remember the function (they went to many fancy functions at ULowell) nor can she remember their dates (again, they had many dates as well!), so the two coeds must have had a great time!

Kathleen then graduated and ran off to sunny Florida. There she was a happy graduate student and worked diligently to finish her degree. She took a couple of semesters off to work as a Research Assistant for the Department of Energy at the Pittsburgh Energy Technology Center. Kathleen enjoyed being with the (mostly) slavic people of Pittsburgh, reading at Point State Park, and eating great food!
After successfully defending her thesis (those professors tried to take it from her, but she fought them all off!) she ran to be with her future husband and attend George Washington University. There she threw her hat back in into the (student) political ring and was a graduate senator.
But, that's the end of Kathleen McGuire. She soon became Kathleen Kaplan and, as her friend Danielle stated recently, "all grown up!" Pattie became more "grown up" because she is now happily married and the mother of four!! Way to go Pattie!!
