Programming Assignment #1
Markov Models, due October 9, 2001, Tuesday
Write a program in C or C++ to find information about a given Markov Model.
Let the user input:
1. A queuing system from a selection of M/M, M/G, M/Ek, or M/D.
2. The number of parallel servers for M/M, or in the case of M/Ek, k. Assume that there is only one server for M/G and M/D.
3. The appropriate arrival and service time information for the queuing system selected.
The output is as follows:
1. The server utilization (().
2. Whether or not the system is steady.
If the system if not steady, the number of servers needed to make the system steady. Ask the user if he or she wants to increase the number of servers to this amount. If so, continue to number 3, if not, stop the program.
3. The long-run time-average number of jobs in the system (L).
4. The long-run time-average number of jobs in the queue (LQ).
5. The long-run average time spent in the system per job (w).
6. The long-run average time spent in the queue per job (wQ).
Submit:
1. A hard copy with ten runs. These runs include examples of M/M/1, M/G/1, M/Ek/1, M/D/1, M/M/c (where c > 1), server utilization > 1 and user continues, server utilization <= 1 and user does not continue, and three more of your choice.
2. Email your program(s) to me - not the executable - at [email protected].
Notes:
1. Your name, ID, SYSC 410, Programming Assignment #1, Markov Models, Dr. Kaplan, Fall 2001, must be typed into the comments of your program at the top.
2. The program must be fully commented.
3. The program must be your own work.
4. The input and output given must be described to the user (not just "input (" - you must specify what your program is asking for input and what it is giving for output).
5. No late assignments will be accepted.
