The point is simple:
Since we hit the airwaves in 1971, our station has embarked on an
Aggressive Community Outreach Program to give back to our listeners.
Our staff, friends and family at the station have extended
their services on
SPECIAL DAYS AND HOLIDAYS
with luncheons, concerts, fund-raisers
(for community shelters) and any other events to enhance the community.
This year we are especially aggressive because this is our 25
ANNIVERSARY. We are focusing on modern day issues plaguing
our community such as
TEEN PREGNANCY and AIDS.
We still focus on timeless issues like our
SENIOR CITIZENS, who built
the base for our community, and our
CHILDREN, who will take over the
community when we leave.
We realize that in the district
HOMELESSNESS is rampant, so we have
extended our services to include projects on homeless
people. They too are a part of the community that we live in.
Thanksgiving is no time for anyone to go hungry; that's
why for 20 years WHUR has supported
PROJECT HARVEST.
All this because WHUR CARES!
The WHUR CITYLINE provides the Washington,
D.C. community with job listings, public service announcements,
entertainment news, and a host of other issues. WHUR delivers news relevant to our
community via "The Daily Drum," a half hour news program
which airs Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Many local
political figures are interviewed on "The Daily Drum"
to enlighten our listeners on matters vital to their
community."
